Dave James Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 (edited) Quinton McHale will be steering the great PT boat in the sky. Nice career. Oscar winner and huge TV star. Still relevant as recently as the latest MIssion Impossible film. http://www.nytimes.com/?emc=na Edited July 8, 2012 by Dave James Quote

When I refresh the page, I briefly see a still shot from "Marty", but then it loads as the playlist I referred to. Weird... never seen this happen before. Quote
Tim McG Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 (edited) My brother and I were just glued to the TV set when McHale's Navy came on. Ernest Borgnine was the perfect straight man to Tim Conway and Joe Flynn. Rest in Peace, Mr. Borgnine. Edited July 9, 2012 by GoodSpeak Quote
mikelz777 Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 I'll always remember him from McHale's Navy but he made his biggest impression on me playing Shack in The Emporer Of The North Pole with Lee Marvin and Keith Carradine. Quote
BruceH Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 I was beginning to think he would last forever. RIP Quote

Yeah, not working for me. I get Star Trek reboot, then Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Didn't stick with it long enough to see if Marty was in the queue or not... Quote
brownie Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 Apart from 'Marty', Borgnine was the villain in many of the movies I saw when I started getting interested in films ('From Here to Eternity', 'Johnny Guitar', 'Bad Day at Black Rock', among others). I already miss him... Quote
robertoart Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 (edited) RIP Ernest. Your gruff features and voice will forever be a part of my childhood tv and movie memories. Anyone remember Barabbas? Borgnine (and others like Tony Curtis and Anthony Quinn's) presence in these type of epic 'swords and sandals' movies makes me smile now, especially when I look back on the incongruities of their streetwise and hard bitten American vernacular Edited July 9, 2012 by freelancer Quote
B. Goren. Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 He was a giant! RIP Mr. Borgnine. Ernest Borgnine obituary. Quote
gmonahan Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 I loved him in "The Wild Bunch." And he was fun to see in "RED" too. RIP. gregmo Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 To his credit he was charged with "slapping around" Ethel Merman, one of his wives. Quote
JSngry Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 Sounds like that's not all he slapped around! Quote
