B. Goren. Posted June 26, 2012 Report Posted June 26, 2012 Great Music. Get this set if you can. Quote
B. Goren. Posted June 26, 2012 Author Report Posted June 26, 2012 Last Chance, actually. It's running fast ... Quote
miles65 Posted June 26, 2012 Report Posted June 26, 2012 (edited) The Mosaic mail says as subject: last chance. In the mail and on the Website mosiac says running low. Edited June 26, 2012 by Stompy Jones Quote
BeBop Posted June 26, 2012 Report Posted June 26, 2012 The Mosaic mail says as subject: last chance. In the mail and on the Website mosiac says running low. Actually, the e-mail is inconsistent, with a Subject "Sonny Stitt - Last Chance" and a caption that says "Limited Edition Collection - Running Low". Quote
JSngry Posted June 26, 2012 Report Posted June 26, 2012 "Sonny Stitt"..."Last Chance"...."Running Low"...I guess death is the opposite of life. Quote
Face of the Bass Posted June 27, 2012 Report Posted June 27, 2012 This is IMO one of the best Mosaic sets. I'm not one to jump on the bandwagon of every set, but if I was only allowed to keep five of my Mosaics, this would probably be one of the ones I would hang onto. Quote
Brad Posted June 27, 2012 Report Posted June 27, 2012 Haven't listened to it in awhile but great music. Quote
tranemonk Posted June 27, 2012 Report Posted June 27, 2012 It's been out there for a long time. Hopefully everyone who wanted it got it... Quote
AfricaBrass Posted June 27, 2012 Report Posted June 27, 2012 I really like this set. It's hard to believe it was the last new Mosaic set I purchased, and I bought it when it was released. Quote
DrJ Posted June 27, 2012 Report Posted June 27, 2012 Been salivating over this one for a long time - I ordered my copy today (like some earlier posters I hit the panic button immediately when I saw the "Last Chance" subject line in the e-mail from Mosaic!). Really looking forward to hearing it. Quote
Quincy Posted June 27, 2012 Report Posted June 27, 2012 (edited) There were a bunch I had on my hunting list that were higher than this but one September they put 5 or 6 sets on a special discount. The high disc count had kept me away so along with the sale price I believe my excuses for buying it were "Well, you have 14 Mobley albums (and a few other tenor leader album counts were rattled off) and just one Stitt? That's not right" and I also noticed the remastered by Malcolm Addey part. I'm so glad I did. Just grab a disc, any disc, and put it in. If I remember right it's not one of those sets with loads of alternates (they have their place). Some of it has that "they're playing in the room" feel, if you ever imagine yourself so lucky to have a band scuff up your listening room furniture. There were other sets I bought that I was more enthused about that haven't been as played as much as this one. Edited June 27, 2012 by Quincy Quote
Big Wheel Posted June 27, 2012 Report Posted June 27, 2012 Any opinions on favorite discs on the Stitt set? About to start hunting for some of these tracks to see if this set is my cup of tea. Quote
mikeweil Posted June 27, 2012 Report Posted June 27, 2012 How's the session with Don Patterson? That's the one I'm the most curious about. Bad thing is, I simply do not have the funds right now ... Quote
medjuck Posted June 27, 2012 Report Posted June 27, 2012 You guys convinced me. To be honest I don't have any other Sonny Stitt. I just ordered it but I'm running out of shelf space. (One of the reasons I'm now downloading music more than I'm buying cds. ) Quote

Well I've got him with Dizzy & Stan and with Art Pepper but none as a leader. Quote
paul secor Posted June 28, 2012 Report Posted June 28, 2012 Pass. I already have a fair number of S.S. recordings & can't see how this box will make any great difference in my life, so there'll be one more box for someone else to order and enjoy. Quote

David Ayers Posted July 4, 2012 Report Posted July 4, 2012 No sound clips up for this set. That's one way to market it, I suppose. Quote
jlhoots Posted July 4, 2012 Report Posted July 4, 2012 FWIW, I have this box & am glad that I do. Quote
