Larry Kart Posted May 19, 2012 Report Posted May 19, 2012 The number of such "Parker" alto saxophones (i.e. ones that he had his hands on that ended up in, and then perhaps emerged from, pawn shops) must be considerable, perhaps more so than in the case of any other jazz musician of note. Quote
jeffcrom Posted May 19, 2012 Report Posted May 19, 2012 I was surprised that the promo article didn't mentioned the make and model of the horn, unless I missed it. I had to dig into the History Detective transcript to find it. It's a Beuscher Aristocrat - a nice horn at that time. Quote
AllenLowe Posted May 19, 2012 Report Posted May 19, 2012 (edited) not really a Bird Horn, than - more like one he just picked up on the fly. The real Bird horns, I would say, are the King Super 20 and the Conn 6M. Though the Aristocrats in the 247XXX number series are considered very similar to the 6M - Edited May 19, 2012 by AllenLowe Quote

AllenLowe Posted May 19, 2012 Report Posted May 19, 2012 I love the sound of those plastic horns, but apparently they are horrible to maintain. Peter King, btw, is an absolutely great player. Quote

Seems to me there was a thread not so long ago that was either about Peter King or involved him. I know it caused me to go to the mattresses for an hour or so listening to some of his music. Definitely sponge worthy. Quote
