ejp626
This just came to my attention -- Spooky Actions playing a quasi-improvised version of Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time. I'm sure it's at the usual suspects. Here it is on CD Baby: Spooky I'll most likely get it via eMusic. The idea is at least intriguing, though I don't know how much I will like it. Execution is everything. I did like Crossing Brooklyn Ferry by Stephane Furic, which was half jazz-half classical. I can't recall what was being improvised upon but probably something by Aaron Copland.
Д.Д.
There is also a CD of Keith Yaun group improvisations on Messiaen: http://www.allmusic.com/album/amen-improvisations-on-messiaen-r528994/review I have not heard it.

Well, that sounds sort of interesting, but may depart too much from Messiaen to be of much interest to me. From what I heard in the sound clips, this other group is much closer to Quartet for the End of Time.
David Ayers
It's entertaining enough to warrant a listen on Spotify. They do something similar for Schoenberg Op. 23, also on spotters.
