bogdan101 Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 Four albums for about 10 bucks, that's not bad... Anyone have these yet? Quote
David Ayers Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 They've been all over amazon for a while. Blakey, Henderson, Hancock, Baker, Shorter, Gordon, Adderley, McFerrin - maybe more I can't remember. Four albums of each - attempt to rival the PD products, I guess. Quote
jazzbo Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 Interesting. Wonder what masterings are used. . . . Great for new collectors! Quote

colinmce Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 Why not just go whole hog and do complete sets a la Black Saint/Soul Note? Blakey, Mobley, Morgan, McLean, Smith & Green might be unfeasible, but they're 1 Joe Henderson album away from all of them. Quote
GA Russell Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 I've found these at amazon.uk, but not at amazon.com. Quote
bogdan101 Posted May 1, 2012 Author Report Posted May 1, 2012 I've found these at amazon.uk, but not at amazon.com. They don't come near the top of the list when searching by artist name, but they're there: http://www.amazon.com/4cd-Boxset-Wayne-Shorter/dp/B005O3466M/ Note the ridiculous price amazon.com is asking compared to the private sellers! GA Russell Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 (edited) Thanks bogdan. At Amazon.uk, most are going for 6-8 pounds. I wonder how bad the shipping from there will set me back. Edited May 1, 2012 by GA Russell Quote
JETman Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 Thanks bogdan. At Amazon.uk, most are going for 6-8 pounds. I wonder how bad the shipping from there will set me back. Shipping is 2.09 GBP for 1st item, and .99 GBP for each item including the 1st. I suggest loading up and combining several items into one order so the damage per item is minimized. Most of the time, even multi-disc sets are counted as one item. They really are a great outfit (far better than the US counterpart). I usually receive things from them in a week (sometimes less) here in NY. They are completely courteous and professional AND items that we pay a mint for in the US can often be found much cheaper through them. One such example for me was the 71 disc Miles set upon release. I paid much less (around $70 or $80) through them than I would have here. Additionally, keep in mind that prices on their site are divided by 1.2 in order to subtract out VAT that US based customers would not pay. Quote
GA Russell Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 That's good to know! A buck and a half for shipping per item is great. Quote

sonnymax Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 That's good to know! A buck and a half for shipping per item is great. Where do you get a buck and a half? It's $5 for the first item, which isn't bad at all. Quote

JETman Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 Why is everyone focusing on shipping? It's easy enough to work out the differnce between the total costs. Go from there. For the mathematically challenged, [(Amazon UK price/1.2) x approx. 1.6 + 2.09 x 1.6 + 0.99 x 1.6] = cost in USD for ONE item For a more accurate conversion rate, I use: www.oanda.com For me, Amazon UK seems a hell of a lot less "Bezos-ish" than Amazon US anyway. Sometimes the experience makes all the difference. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 I'm amazed anyone here needs these recordings. Quote
nail75 Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 I'm amazed anyone here needs these recordings. Yeah, we know that you have all albums by Cassandra Reeves and Dianne Wilson and still you keep coming back for more. Quote
Daniel A Posted December 19, 2012 Report Posted December 19, 2012 Believe it or not, but some of these are of interest to me. What I would like to know though is what masterings have been used and how the discs are packaged. Did anyone try any of these? Quote
