CJ Shearn Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 Looking forward to this one. With Chris Potter, Ben Williams, bass and Antonio Sanchez, drums. Pat roadtested this music like the old days before recording. After this, a new Group recording is in the works, and reportedly a solo disc in John Zorn's "Book of Angels" series!!! Quote
JSngry Posted April 24, 2012 Report Posted April 24, 2012 so...what kind of "Unity" are we talking about here? Quote
CJ Shearn Posted April 24, 2012 Author Report Posted April 24, 2012 Pat's always been into and credibly works in the avant scene but it's been a while since he's dug deeply into that area, on the Orchestrion tour he definitely did. He has 4 big projects this year, one is the Zorn collaboration. Not sure Jim, lol. Quote
JETman Posted April 24, 2012 Report Posted April 24, 2012 really now...hanging with Zorn? If Lovano can do it, so can Metheny. Quote
Aggie87 Posted April 24, 2012 Report Posted April 24, 2012 Metheny did a 3 disc recording with Derek Bailey previously as well. Quote

CJ Shearn Posted May 5, 2012 Author Report Posted May 5, 2012 (edited) My linkThis is the first tune off the record, I like it. It's an instant download ordering from Pat's site. The track is very "80/81" ish not suprisingly. Edited May 5, 2012 by CJ Shearn Quote

I haven't been keeping up with Metheny lately, and this sounds like a great group - I really dig Chris Potter in most anything he's been in. Re a Book of Angels entry, that could be pretty cool if its solo - remember the great Masada Guitars, with Ribot, Sparks and Frisell? Metheny did a 3 disc recording with Derek Bailey previously as well. I sometimes get the feeling that I'm the only person in the world who absolutely loves this album! Quote
