Mike Schwartz Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 cardinals still have 900 SRO tickets for wednesday available at $40. Quite the strange sight a large empty section of the left field upper deck at the SF/Cards game tonight.... Quote
Brad Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 1350258714' post='1232627'] 1350258141' post='1232626'] Mad Bum on the mound tonight vs Lance Lynn. MLB Tonight goes on about Lynn's Tommy John surgery but those Eastern guys just can't give it to the Giants. Their prediction: Cards will dominate. OK. I'm not saying the Giants are going to win, but do you think the sporting media could at least ONCE pick the Giants? Geez. I've been hearing this stuff all season about how the Giants can't get it done...even after sweeping the Reds at home to win the ALCS. Just once I'd like to rub the media's smug little noses in it the next time the Giants win after they write them off...again. Wow. I know, it's completely stupid how these experts go on about the Cardinals. You'd think they were the team that easily won their division, racked up 94 wins, had the better ERA, had more saves, more shut outs, gave up fewer earned runs. It's true, the West Coast teams never get the props the teams from East & Midwest do, and I don't care what you guys say, it's true. They probably go on about them because although they are generally no world beaters in the regular season, they are lethal in the post season (at least since 2006). Although I want the Giants to win, I don't think they will and that Cards will repeat. Quote
Matthew Posted October 15, 2012 Author Report Posted October 15, 2012 The second terrible start by Bumgarner in this post season -- who would have thought the two best pitchers for the Giants would be Sergio Romo and Tim Lincecum? Quote
Dan Gould Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 Can't blame the dude for having a terrible headache. Ever tried breaking the sound barrier, then going out and pitching a playoff game? Quote

Quite the strange sight a large empty section of the left field upper deck at the SF/Cards game tonight.... According to StubHub there are 5,442 tickets available for tonights game. Upper deck, left field going for $84.99 to $195.00. Field level behind the Giants dugout: $425.00 to $985.00. I'd stay home and watch it on tv. Quote

What I don't understand is why Bochy didn't go get him until the game was 6-0. That four spot the Giants put up in the 4th show they still got some offense going; chased Lynn, too. This one isn't over by a long shot. Edited October 15, 2012 by GoodSpeak Quote

I think Bird used to do stuff like that...not sure about the baseball part though, but could be wrong. Quote
Tim McG Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 Geez. I've been hearing this stuff all season about how the Giants can't get it done...even after sweeping the Reds at home to win the ALCS. When did they do that? My bad. My ears were full of the Yankees this and the Yankees that from the TV in the other room when I typed my post. I have since corrected my error Who gives a darn that Joe Buck is announcing both 49ers & Giants game. Such self-promoting bs. Thank goodness I have satellite radio and can listen to the KNBR Giants feed. I need to get that for next season. Joe Buck and Tim McCarver just plain make me ill. Why Fox can't hire Kruk and Kuip to do the game(s) is beyond me. Quote
Tim McG Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 (edited) 7-1, Giants. On to St. Louis. Edited October 16, 2012 by GoodSpeak Quote

Tim McG Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 I quote the fans in LF after Holliday's pointlessly violent slide [ala Cousins vs. Posey]: "What's the matter with Holl-iday? HE'S A BUM!!!" Quote

Matthew Posted October 16, 2012 Author Report Posted October 16, 2012 Too bad there isn't a YouTube video that puts together sliding take-outs by Pete Rose, he was something else. I've always heard it said by just about every old time player that Frank Robinson was a absolute monster on the base paths, he had no conscious when it came to taking players out. Quote
Tim McG Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 (edited) Lemme see... Holliday is 6'4" and 235; full of muscle. Scutaro is 5'10" and 185; small frame. Oh that's fair Edited October 16, 2012 by GoodSpeak Quote

I forgot that Hal McRae was a Red then, and it's a good thing I watched it again. Otherwise I was going to say Hal McRae was famous for taking out infielders. He kept it up as a Royal. IIRC Willie Randolph was upended by him in an ALCS. And ditto on what Matthew said. Quote

Bill Nelson Posted October 18, 2012 Report Posted October 18, 2012 If you start knocking back beers at 2:30 pm, you'll be juiced when the game starts at 4:07 pm. Maybe there's a 90-minute pre-game show on your local channel? Quote
Matthew Posted October 18, 2012 Author Report Posted October 18, 2012 Hunter Pence, is the most useless outfielder for the Giants since Fred Lewis, he's killing SF. He needs to find out that being the head cheerleader means nothing if you don't get a clutch hit. Please just stop the bs pre-game yelling and screaming, you look stupid doing that. On another note: Who would have imagined that the series now rests on Timmy's shoulders? Maybe being demoted to the bullpen was just the kick in the rear end he need to wake up and pitch good again. Notice Bumgarner is now in the pen, and Zito (!!!!!!!!!!!) is schedule for game 5, What. The. Heck??? just start the game by giving the Cardinals three runs, that way, we don't have to suffer from another gutless Zito start. Quote

Yesterday Pence was the goat and he admits it. However, he has been fairly productive up until Game 3 and in the regular season which got the Giants the NL West and past the ALDS. Cain was the problem last night. Giving up that tater to a bench warmer in Carpenter is what killed the Giants last night. Edited October 18, 2012 by GoodSpeak Quote
Tim McG Posted October 18, 2012 Report Posted October 18, 2012 (edited) Pence....the whole story: You have to win in the regular season first. He has one RBI/Run and 5 hits in the playoffs. Edited October 18, 2012 by GoodSpeak Quote
Mike Schwartz Posted October 18, 2012 Report Posted October 18, 2012 Pence....the whole story: You have to win in the regular season first. He has one RBI/Run and 5 hits in the playoffs. That's ZERO RBI in 8 playoff games this year .161 BA 5-31 Tell that to Rodriguez, Cano, Swisher et. al in NY who could get swept today. Unfortunately for SF, why would you even try giving Posey a pitch to hit, knowing that Pence is next who starts swinging when he comes out of the dugout.....it's like he's automatically at strike 2 when he gets to the plate.
