LWayne Posted March 17, 2012 Report Posted March 17, 2012 Recently purchased "Turning Point" from Downtown Music Gallery. They weren't certain whether it was a "real" IAI catalogue CD versus a CDR version. Although the label and the manufacturing notes look legit, is there any way to tell for sure? DMG has always been very reputable. Thanks, LWayne Quote
brownie Posted March 17, 2012 Report Posted March 17, 2012 No idea if what you purchased is the real thing. The IAI catalogue has been released on CD. IAI Records catalogue I have most of those IAI albums on vinyl and did not need to get any of those CDs. DMG has sold CDRs of other albums in the past, which may not be the case here! Quote
colinmce Posted March 17, 2012 Report Posted March 17, 2012 Wow, never heard of many of those. I'd buy them all! Quote
fkimbrough Posted March 18, 2012 Report Posted March 18, 2012 Hi Wayne - it's the real thing. After reading your post, I went down and purchased a copy for myself........IAI has for some time been licensed to Soul Note, which is now part of the CAM Jazz catalog. Great record! Quote
JSngry Posted March 18, 2012 Report Posted March 18, 2012 Let the light reflect of the underside. CDRs will have a greenish tinge to them, usually. Quote
sonnymax Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 I ordered the Bowie/Wilson CD Duets directly from IAI a year or two ago. Here's the link: IAI Quote
