slide_advantage_redoux
There are a lot of Curtis sides floating around,. It seems that the same ones appear, and I have those anyway. This is a new one for me. Never saw it nor heard it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Magnificent-Trombone-Curtis-Fuller-Walter-Bishop-Jr-/320858331605?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item4ab4a599d5 Is anyone here familiar with this date? Is it noteworthy, worthy of having? Available on CD?
Jim R
It's a very nice session, imo, from 1961. Band included: Les Spann, Walter Bishop Jr., Buddy Catlett, Jimmy Garrison, and Stu Martin. I'll Be Around Dream Mixed Emotions Playpen Sometimes I Feel Like A Motherless Child Two Different Worlds Teabags I Loves You Porgy It was released on a 2LP-on-1CD issue on the Collectables label in 2001. The other title was "South American Cookin'". Edited March 6, 2012 by Jim R
Jim R
By the way, before I got the CD, I had a reissue LP copy, which I'm guessing came out in the 90's. I couldn't tell if this ebay copy is original or a reissue... edit: ah, now I see it's a reissue. Edited March 6, 2012 by Jim R
brownie
Still have the Japanese vinyl replica LP (from 1976) I purchased at Dobell's during a visit to London. A very worthy album!
JohnS
I have a Japanese Epic cd and I'm giving it a spin now. It's not my first choice of Fuller's recordings but a very pleasant listen.
Stereojack
This appears to be the Scorpio reissue from the 90's. This is is fine session, and you shouldn't have to pay much more than the starting bid. Edited March 6, 2012 by Stereojack
