Tim McG
A loss is a loss is a loss is a loss! 1 point or 15 is still a loss No doubt. But three close losses in a row just shows the Lakers still have a fair amount of talent on the team. The Thunder has had to struggle to win [or, more to the point, preside over the mistakes of the Lakers]. My thinking is if the Thunder was that good [or the Lakers that bad] the games would be more lopsided and they aren't. Okay, let me put it this way; a W is a W is a W. The spread only makes a difference to the money betters. OK...fair enough
BruceW
MWP gets a flagrant foul. Argument!! To me there was no argument. There are times when even the commentators don't see what they need to see. MWP fouled the shooter but, what was hard to see (but not for me) was that he shoved with his fully extended left arm, whoever it was that took the shot, (Hill I think) while he was still in the air and it shoved him down. That is why it got changed to a flagrant foul. Now, I saw the replay 3 times at least and each time I could see the left arm. Look for it guys, you'll see it. ol eagle eye, Bruce :excited:
Tim McG
Well, at least the Lakers got it to the 5th game. No sweep. Go Giants.
Soulstation1
Mamba did all he could without much help Wussell Restbrook gets on your nerves unless he's playing on your squad I hope OKC can beat the Spurs

Aggie87
Mamba did all he could without much help When you score 42 points and have 0 ASSISTS, it's hard to complain that you're not getting much help. That suggests ball-hog, not team player. I'll agree that there's really not much on that team other than Bryant though. I don't think Bynum is that tough or focused. Artest is too volatile. Gasol's time in LA has passed. The rest of 'em? Sessions - eh. Hill - eh. Blake - eh.
BruceW
Bryant stays, why, because he is Bryant. Bynum stays, why, one more year to reach his potential of superstar. He is still very young and this was first year healthy. Gasol gone. two 7 footers negate each other, too many soft lapses. MWP gone. too volatile everyone else. up for trades. Tim McG
I give the coach one more year...then he's gone.
Noj
For me, all the Lakers need is to add some players who can shoot threes. That's the only missing ingredient. I'd much rather see Artest leave than Gasol, but if both of those guys and anybody not named Bryant, Bynum, or Sessions can bring in somebody who can fill it up outside the arc... Sessions might be tough to re-sign. I'm hoping big, of course, and would like to see Deron Williams don the purple and gold. Thunder/Spurs will be an epic battle. Pulling for the Thunder to win it all.

An awful lot of who stays and who goes depends on contracts. MWP is pretty much untradeable, given his beahavior and possibly his contract. Gasol may also have a contract that nobody will take on. I heard one commentator yesterday suggest bynum for Dwight Howard, but do the Lakers want a whiner who just had back surgery? Contracts may force the Lakers to pretty much stand pat unless they can make some creative trades. They're pretty much guarateed to have an interesting offseason. PHILLYQ
Thunder/Spurs will be an epic battle. Pulling for the Thunder to win it all. This could be a classic matchup of the experienced veteran team against the young(and very talented) team. Looks to be verrrry interesting. I like the Thunder also, but it wouldn't surprise me to see the Spurs win it all.

Big Wheel
Maybe we should rename this thread "Boring Western Conference Discussion Corner". Meanwhile in the East the Heat and Pacers are now in a full-on cage match that's one hard foul away from Jeff Van Gundy dangling from Alonzo Mourning's leg. Noj
The Heat are a dirty team, from Wade, LeBron, and Haslam clear down to the scrubs.
Big Wheel
That's a strong claim. Can you back it up with evidence? I'm not aware of Udonis Haslem having a reputation for any incidents of dirty play (not counting what happened in game 5, which I think is fair to discount given the history in the game and the series). Dwyane Wade is the only one for whom I think the claim is at least defensible, although here too I think Wade hasn't been the aggressor in most of the incidents (cf. Rip Hamilton). And arguing that Lebron is dirty is absurd. I've never seen him do anything even rising to the level of Bryant's questionable follow-through, which seems to whack guys on the head a surprising percentage of the time. Noj
Well, Wade's turned into a cheap-shotting punk, from his nose-breaking hack on Kobe in the All-Star game to that petulant shove from behind he gave Darren Collison earlier in this series. LeBron's taken to dirty little undercover cheapies probably under Wade's tutelage. Not to mention he and Wade's tendency to really exaggerate on flops in a dirtier way than even Fisher ever dreamed of. Haslem's karate chop on Psycho T should have resulted in a longer suspension than it did, and the scrub who hacked the Pacer's scrub deserved at least as long as what Bynum got last year. I hate the Heat so much I think I'd rather even see the Celtics win, so I'll admit that I have a jaundiced eye toward the whole squad. LeBron, Wade, and Bosh can kiss my ass with their dancing around with Kool-Aid smiles on their TV special bragging about how many rings they're going to win and I hope they never win any together. On top of that, fuck David Stern and the NBA owners for pitching a fit and vetoing the Lakers' trade for Chris Paul saying it "wouldn't be fair to have players of that caliber together on one team" after standing pat and allowing Miami to put that ridiculous all-star team together. It was nothing but bias against the Lakers for doing what they're supposed to do which is try to win. - I dislike Artest and I always have, so you'll get no argument from me on his dirty play. He helped the Lakers beat the Celtics in game 7 of the Finals, but other than that has been underwhelming in LA and made me miss Ariza. I'll root tooth and nail for whoever comes out of the West, that's for sure.
