Hardbopjazz
It is on CNN right now. Although I am not a fan she at one time had a wonderful singing voice. 48. Way too young.

Hardbopjazz
Sad to say, this does not come as a surprise. Yes, even if she was clean now, the damage was already done from all those years of abuse.
Dave James
She had the whole package. What a waste. Although it's not a very nice thing to say, it's too bad it wasn't Bobby Brown. If she hadn't hooked up with that loser, who knows what might have become of her. Or, maybe she was just self-destructive like Phyllis Hyman whose place she essentially took at Arista Records. Guess it doesn't matter much now, does it? RIP, Whitney. John L
Waiting to Exhale turned my head around about Whitney Houston in a major way. Before that, I didn't think that I understood what all the fuss was about. After that, I became a true believer in Whitney, even if none of her other recordings that I have heard can reach me quite like that one. It is very sad how somebody who has everything going for her can lose it all in self-destruction. RIP
mikeweil
The pop scene has a sadly long list of wasted talents that fell victim to self-destruction to its credit - poor Whitney is the most recent name on it. Really an incredible voice. R.I.P.
