I do like that one, but Savoy overall had the ugliest album covers I've ever seen. Bizarre graphic images and/or horrendous retouched photography. No wonder John Coates Jr. never recorded for a major label again and scurried back to Bucks County, after what Savoy did to him when he was 18. On the other hand, they did let him record as a trio with Wendell Marshall and Kenny Clarke as an 18 year old. And he held his own just fine, thank you very much.

There's some kind of joke going on in that photo...Look at J.R., he's all like "yeah, let's look like this paper has notes or something on it and that we're studying the great music we're about to make. Then let's go get high!" and Eddie Bert's all like, "what do you mean, GET high?"

I have that one. Bert was a classic example of an underrated trombonist. Fine style, great tone.
