The Magnificent Goldberg Posted January 25, 2012 Report Posted January 25, 2012 We ALWAYS get too much food in for Christmas. Particularly sweets, chocs, biscuits and other delectables, because people give us those as well. What we're still getting through, after a month, is: the last few of a half kilo of Wally's chocolate covered Brazils (my favourite); two packets of dates, not yet started; two and a half chocolate oranges; and a Christmas pudding. Have you all got stuff you're still getting through? MG Quote
king ubu Posted January 25, 2012 Report Posted January 25, 2012 You eat your dates? Isn't that... kind of... cannibalistic? Welcome back! Quote
crisp Posted January 25, 2012 Report Posted January 25, 2012 We still have a Waitrose/Delia Smith Christmas cake mix pack that has yet to be used, so we haven't even cooked some of our Christmas food yet! Quote
Head Man Posted January 25, 2012 Report Posted January 25, 2012 I'll still be eating Christmas cake at Easter! Everything else's gone, though. Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted January 25, 2012 Report Posted January 25, 2012 (edited) I celebrate Christmas on 25th January - gets rid of that dreadful month between the end of festivities and the first signs of spring. So I'm just starting. Season's Greetings, all. Edited January 25, 2012 by A Lark Ascending Quote
JSngry Posted January 25, 2012 Report Posted January 25, 2012 We still have our tree and inside lights & decorations up. Figured that since this past one was the last Christmas ever (2012, etc), we'd do what I've always wanted to do since I can remember - keep the stuff up all January long. And you know what? When this weekend comes, I'll not mind taking it all down, not one bit. A refreshing change from feeling all AWWWWWWWWW....... It's all run it's course, and the tree has just about stopped drinking. Quincy Posted January 25, 2012 Report Posted January 25, 2012 I forgot about about some chocolate covered ginger cookies until I discovered them last week. We have a few small chocolate covered peanut butter filled santas too. Quote
sidewinder Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 a Christmas pudding. Still got one in the cupboard too ! Quote
GA Russell Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 I've still got the fruit cake and a package of crumpets. Quote

BillF Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 I've still got the fruit cake and a package of crumpets. I hope they're thinking man's crumpets! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thinking_man%27s_crumpet Quote
JSngry Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Oh, I love drinking christmas trees! They mean never having to drink alone, always a big plus. Quote
Tom 1960 Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 I usually get candies and cookies from customers along my mail route. If I don't eat them right away, the wife will take them to work so there not still sitting around 6 months later. Quote

MG 12/21, that's the day. Or so they say. Oh, I love drinking christmas trees! They mean never having to drink alone, always a big plus. Can I lend yours for tonight? The cat doesn't drink with me, alas... If you can wait until Sunday, you can have it. And you might just want it, because it's been a great tree, from Fred Moomey Farms in Cadillac, Michigan. The guy and his family come down here every December and rent a lot to sell their trees. It's a family tradition with us! Edited January 27, 2012 by JSngry Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 I keep putting off eating this Xmas grub: Quote
Dan Gould Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 Brings up a question I posed to my wife: Who had/will have more disappointed believers the day after, that nutty preacher who had the end of the world happening last year, or people who believe that Mayan hoo-hah? I'm going with the Mayan believers. But we can talk December 22nd. I imagine some people will be doing some furious Christmas shopping when they realize they're still on the hook for gifts. Quote
JSngry Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 My son is getting married on 12/21, so I'm on the hook for something no matter what! Quote
king ubu Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 Just make sure to have a drinking x-mas tree ready, you never know... Quote
JSngry Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 Oh, we will. The tradition is to go out and get the tree the weekend before my birthday (12/14). So the tree's still drinking mightily then. Maybe I should invite it to the wedding? Quote
king ubu Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 Just make sure to go over its speech beforehand, if you do... you never know what a Texan tree might come up with Quote
JSngry Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 Especially one who came here from Michigan to find work! Quote
