Durium mentioned the set on his blog in 2007, but at that time it was 10 discs and only went up to 1955. The current set is 13 discs. I guess they updated when more went out of EU copyright.

There was a brief discussion in November about this box, beginning on this page:

Are there any box bargains currently available?

Where did you see the box at that price, if I may ask?

Saw it on Berkshire Record Outlet, but actually able to get it cheaper through Amazon UK, provided I ordered it correctly (have never ordered from there before). The 3 pound shipping charge seems low for a 13 CD set coming to the USA.

Shortly after United Archives released that 10 cd set, they also released a 4 cd set spanning 1956/7. It would seem that this new 13 cd set is a straight combination of the two prior sets which allowed them to reduce the total number of cd's by one. Yes, this is worth $45 - $50!!! (works out to less than $4/disc) But don't go by me --- for me, Miles is IT.

I order a lot of stuff from Amazon UK. There's an option to charge you in your local currency, which will save you on conversion fees. I think the first time I used the site it found my Amazon cookie and asked if I wanted to import my info.

I have the 13CD set version, it omits Paris and Amsterdam sets with Wilen, but it's a very good survey in largely very respectable sound.

There are several other omissions, and some silly duplicates of officially released material (the Paris 1949, the Lighthouse set, the set with Jimmy Forrest) that come rather uncalled for... but hey, you get a large chunk on factory pressed CDs, and the price is right (I got mine from amazon.fr for just under 30€ and free shipping).

Is there another source for those Wilen set? Are they noteworthy?

The Amsterdam set is out on Lonehill - but as all commercially available versions, it runs at wrong speed (considerably fast) and that ruins it quite a bit (Klook sounds horrible mostly!)

I suppose this should be the Paris concerts:

indeed , my LP edition sounds better slowed down to about 30 rpm, I find it hard to tell when I've adjusted the speed to the correct point !!!

I think it's somewhere about a semitone sharp, but I'm not sure, would have to check... couldn't tell you in RPMs, but maybe could find out how to fix WAV files correctly if I can locate my files...
