Hardbopjazz Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 Seriously, I can't see spending 350 to 500 for anyone, and never for Wynton Marsalis that's for sure. Wynton Quote
JETman Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 I don't see the point in starting yet another Wynton-bashing thread. Quote
ValerieB Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 Seriously, I can't see spending 350 to 500 for anyone, and never for Wynton Marsalis that's for sure. Wynton it's not just to see Wynton but all the other brilliant musicians, 4-5 course meal, champagne, etc., etc. and it's New Year's Eve! wanna take me?!? LOL Quote
king ubu Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 So if you take the cheap one (hey 350 is a bargain!) they'll throw you out before midnight to make room for the snobs? Quote
sidewinder Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 "includes music charge and 4-course meal, and party favors" Party favours? Quote
king ubu Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 lap dances and more or Wynetone serenading your gal... Quote
Leeway Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 If Eric Clapton drops in, it's a deal Quote
Dan Gould Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 I'm sure the party favors include a bag of his remaindered Columbia CDs. Quote
Dave James Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 Even in New York, I doubt you'd often see the collection of rich hipster dufuses and faux jazz fans that you would at an event like this. Might be amusing to just watch the well heeled arrive. I know this is sick and twisted, but I once hung out outside of a John Tesh concert just to see the sort of people who showed up. I was genuinely humbled, awe struck even, by their musical naivete. Quote
JSngry Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 I would hope there is dancing. Not having a dance on New Year's Eve is unacceptable. Quote
Dave James Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 I would hope there is dancing. Not having a dance on New Year's Eve is unacceptable. I'll have to admit that watching a collection of 1%'ers trying to trip the light fantastic to the music of Jelly Roll Morton and King Oliver might be worth a least a portion of the entry nut. Quote
JSngry Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 But will there be dancing at Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola on New Year's Eve? Or will it just be a "listening event"? Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted December 23, 2011 Author Report Posted December 23, 2011 But will there be dancing at Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola on New Year's Eve? Or will it just be a "listening event"? No, there's no room for dancing at Dizzy's Club Coca Cola. Quote
JSngry Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 Then fuck that!I mean, jeez, they even have dancing on the bus on New Year's Eve! Quote
ValerieB Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 you guys are just stupid! not even stupid-funny! Quote
JSngry Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 You mean I couldn't take you out to go dancing on New Year's Eve, even if I promised to avoid getting on the Guy Lombardo Dancing Bus? Quote
