Not sure they were a good match... Larry was a better fit with the post-Coltrane saxophonists. Exactly, although Hank had adopted some post Trane techniques, I think his ideas and style were too rooted in bop and hard bop vocabulary, whereas someone like Joe Henderson who complete embraced the inside outside approach was a better fit. It may have been one of the moderators who did that that would of been kind of a lame thing to do, though... I totally disagree. I think everyone, but especially the native English speakers here, should try to use correct English which can be understood by all, including those whose first language isn't English and may have trouble understanding mangled English. Presumed, indeed. Why do you care who Mobley lived with? Or Young, for that matter. Grown men (and women) can cohabit with whoever makes them feel at home—don't you think? Pete C Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 I suspect the illiteracy of Chewyspeak must be due to someone not being old enough to remember a world before texting. Quote
Dave James Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 Wasn't Aric a law student in the Seattle area at one point? Wouldn't that make you more, not less aware when it comes the clarity of your oral or written communication? Writing never reflects on anyone anymore than it does on the writer. That's why I don't hit "send" unless I'm sure something is as well written as I can make it. I have no problem with a moderator correcting the wording of a post. Quote

I wholeheartedly agree with your approach. Unfortunately, law student or not, I believe that alcohol played a large part in the clarity (or lack thereof) of the written communication. I am not sure if it still does. Quote

JSngry Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 they only did that one album together, isnt that right, i want to hold your hand. definetly a pop affair. Pop? Like Sinatra w/Ernie Freeman? Or what, exactly? Creed Taylor Wes? Other than the cuts being familiar tunes at reasonable airplay length, I don't think so. But otherwise, I think it would have been a cool mix, especially later Hank with later Larry, playing Hank's tunes in some club in Newark with Eddie Gladden on drums. Just a trio. Hell, I know that woulda have worked. Quote
