Chuck Nessa Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 Curious if any other member is involved. If not, I have a really interesting story to tell. If no other member is involved, I will tell of my experience when it is finished. Quote
jeffcrom Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 Yes - that was my first iPod. I got a recall notice; they sent me a box and I sent mine in. They're supposedly sending me a new one. Quote
Clunky Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 I did too, still waiting on my box to send it off Quote
jeffcrom Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 You've got me curious, Chuck - I want to hear the story. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted November 24, 2011 Author Report Posted November 24, 2011 (edited) Our daughter Carla received the Nano as a Christmas gift from a vendor. Within a month or two she bought a full size one and passed the Nano on to me. I never registered ownership with Apple and don't believe Carla did either, but I did receive the email from Apple. All I can figure is they pulled the info from the unit while I was connected to iTunes. Kinda spooky. Edited November 24, 2011 by Chuck Nessa Quote
Larry Kart Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 Yes, but isn't it a logical extension of what happens when you buy an Apple computer and then receive periodic software updates from them? Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted November 24, 2011 Author Report Posted November 24, 2011 No, I bought the computer from them. Quote
Larry Kart Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 No, I bought the computer from them. I understand that, but isn't their link in both cases to you via the unit, not to the unit via you? Or so it would seem. Quote
Leeway Posted November 25, 2011 Report Posted November 25, 2011 What's the reason for the recall? Quote
Clunky Posted November 25, 2011 Report Posted November 25, 2011 I did wonder how they knew I had one as I rarely ever register purchases. I've only ever bought two tunes off iTunes ( sweet home Alabama and my way - !!) Quote
David Ayers Posted November 25, 2011 Report Posted November 25, 2011 (edited) What's the reason for the recall? They heard that people were downloading music illegally then listening to it on portable devices without a care in the world. It had to be stopped. The 'replacement' is a tiny pewter bust of the late Steve Jobs. No bigger than your thumb. Makes a fantastic gift! Edited November 25, 2011 by David Ayers Quote
jeffcrom Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 This recall worked out pretty well for me, although it took over a month to receive my replacement. I sent in a non-functioning, 2GB first-generation iPod nano and received a brand-new 8GB replacement unit. Quote
WD45 Posted December 22, 2011 Report Posted December 22, 2011 Sent mine off yesterday. Hoping for a 6th gen replacement! Quote

Clunky Posted December 24, 2011 Report Posted December 24, 2011 I've yet to receive my box to send it off, according to the email I hot from Apple it should have arrived weeks ago Quote
