Utevsky Posted January 15, 2014 Report Posted January 15, 2014 I didn't see Coltrane at the Penthouse in Seattle because I was too young to get in and not yet into jazz. But it's sure good to have the recording ("Live in Seattle"). Quote
medjuck Posted January 15, 2014 Report Posted January 15, 2014 A few years agoI saw Charles Lloyd at a small (600 seat) local (for him and me) theater. It was shortly after the death of Billy Higgins and Lloyd made several references to "Master Higgins". It was quite moving but when he played the same venue the next year I figured I'd seen him recently and didn't need to go again. However it was an entirely different group and when I bought Sangam the cd recorded at the very concert I had skipped I I realized I had missed something that was special. I've been kicking myself ever since. Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted January 16, 2014 Report Posted January 16, 2014 Missed John Coltrane in London in the early 60s. I saw a poster for the concert the day after it took place. I saw the poster for Nat Adderley's gig in Cardiff in the late seventies the day after. Missed Teddy Edwards like that, too. All because I didn't go into Spillers on the right day. MG Another thing for which the internet has proven to be a godsend. I get my schedules on line and rarely miss good shows. There aren't any in Tonyrefail MG Quote
