Hardbopjazz Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 Sonny makes playing the sax look so easy. He's the greatest. Quote
Gheorghe Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 I didnĀ“t know the 1968 version, but "Green Dolphin Street" was part of the repertory during the european tour abut 1963, the most outstanding group Sonny with Don Cherry, Henry Grimes and Billy Higgins. They mostly did very long versions of Dolphin Street and Sonnymoon for Two. Great Sonny, shades of Ornette Coleman, since he used players who came out of that style. Quote

Mighty fine stuff: http://www.jazzonthetube.com/page/203.html This was released as part of the Jazz Icons series of wonderful DVDs available commercially. In addition to "OGDS", the group (includes Kenny Drew, NHOP, Tootie Heath) also plays "St. Thomas" and "Four". Quote
