David Ayers
In case you missed it: I notice that hmv.co.jp lists a number of Mar 24th JRVG reissues AS WELL AS the expected new releases. Does anyone have a list of these, perhaps showing releases beyond March, and, since I am asking, is anyone aware of any planned JRVG new releases beyond the March 2004 batch? Here is the list which I have gleaned from hmv. I edited the list to make it more compact. I count 48 titles, but this list may contain errors. I also attached it as a more user-friendly word document, which shows the titles in italics, for those who like to keep a tidy record. bebopbob
I bought the JRVG of Pete La Roca's Basra in 2000. What's the difference between the March 2004 JRVG and the earlier JRVG? Any additional tracks, etc?

Late
The JRVG of Shorter's Speak No Evil sounds a lot better to my ears than the domestic RVG. It doesn't, however, contain the alternate of "Dance Cadaverous." Just a FYI for Shorter junkies. And, yes, good to have another shot at picking up Trompeta Toccata! Aftab
I thought some of these had bonus tracks not available on the original LP. I quite sure the Leo Parker reissue does, and I think the Turrentine That's Where . . . does to.

I quite sure the Leo Parker reissue does, and I think the Turrentine That's Where . . . does to. I didn't mention either of these titles so we may be talking at cross purposes. Anyone wishing to verify details on a particular title can of course look at http://www.hmv.co.jp.

Man with the Golden Arm
...so that means that Wilson's "Easterly Winds" will still sound like poop. Buyer beware. As some have unloaded when the gettin' was good.

AmirBagachelles
Recent JRVGs have had all bonus material I believe (e.g. Conquistador). They seem to cost a lot more for that reason and the dollar's decline.

As some have unloaded when the gettin' was good. What's the deal?? Did the JRVG of "Easterly Winds" suck wind?? I've been looking for a good used TOCJ (jewelbox version, circa 1994?) copy of "Easterly Winds", for like forever (cuz I hate the mini-LP packaging), so there's probably NOT a lot of danger of me guying the JRVG of this title (or any other). Still, I'm kind of curious as to what you’re eluding to??
Son-of-a-Weizen
Recent JRVGs have had all bonus material I believe (e.g. Conquistador). They started tacking on bonus cuts with TOCJ-9361 (Hub-Tones).
grey
They started tacking on bonus cuts with TOCJ-9361 (Hub-Tones). As well, with the JRVG of Hub Tones (TOCJ 9361) RVG used the same mastering for the JRVG as had been used for the RVG where the RVG release preceded the JRVG release. Since June '04 the JRVG and RVG use the same mastering.
erwbol
I bought the JRVG of Pete La Roca's Basra in 2000. What's the difference between the March 2004 JRVG and the earlier JRVG? Any additional tracks, etc? We can be certain that these are straight reissues of the earlier versions. Right. The only thing that is going to be different is the color of the OBI. Bump. My copy of the JRVG (TOCJ-7147) arrived today and the back cover art (a nearly straight copy of the EU version) says it was remastered in 2004 by Rudy. The description at CDJapan said:"Priced-down reissue featuring remastering from Rudy Van Gelder based off of the original US version masters." So the disc was supposed to be issued in the US (cancelled) and hit the shelves in Europe with copy control using the earlier JRVG mastering? How can we be certain this is a straight reissue? Were more pre-2004 JRVG masterings eventually used in the US/EU? Edited June 19, 2013 by erwbol
