Noj Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 I'm glad there's someone who helps him, at least. Quote
Big Al Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 I keep hoping this is one of those Peter Criss type stories, where this guy is a phony and the real Sly Stone shows up to clear up the whole thing like Criss did when it happened to him. But I'm more inclined to believe this is true. I can't even imagine what it must be like to have Sly's brain.... Quote
Pete C Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 (edited) I keep hoping this is one of those Peter Criss type stories, where this guy is a phony and the real Sly Stone shows up to clear up the whole thing like Criss did when it happened to him. But I'm more inclined to believe this is true. I can't even imagine what it must be like to have Sly's brain.... http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/amplifier/89928/funk-legend-sly-stone-is-living-in-a-van/ This article mentions that he was screwed by Jerry Goldstein. A lot of people were, including the members of the "Low Rider Band," most of the former members of War. Edited September 26, 2011 by Pete C Quote
AllenLowe Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 well, he can blame lots of people, but he and his whole entourage were quite psychotic and self destructive. Quote
marcello Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 The Post reports that Stone has become increasingly paranoid, afraid that both the FBI and assassins are pursuing him. For fuck's sake Sly, stop it with the coke already! Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 The only surprising thing in the article is that he was apparently living la dolce vita as recently as 4 years ago. I thought he'd blown his money decades before, and, frankly, was not even sure he was still alive until I saw the article. Quote

ValerieB Posted September 27, 2011 Report Posted September 27, 2011 most of you who have posted are obviously aware that this has been a long time coming. he may have been screwed by Goldstein or whomever, but the truth is that Sly has consistently screwed himself for decades. totally self-destructive and irresponsible. having said that, it's interesting to note that he doesn't seem to upset about his new "home". AllenLowe Posted September 27, 2011 Report Posted September 27, 2011 a lot of people had to deal with Sly and his thugs, and it was not a pretty picture, from what I've read. Quote
