GA Russell Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 This is an article from the same people who brought you the lists about the 8 beers whose sales have declined and the pro teams whose ticket sales have declined. Here are the teams with the most expensive ducats, as they say in the sports pages. I assume in every case that it's the corporations that buy tickets at these prices, although that may not be right for the NFL with its short (few games) schedule. http://247wallst.com/2011/09/22/20-major-league-teams-with-the-most-expensive-tickets/ Quote
Neal Pomea Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 So much for the "blue collar" Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies. Millionaires irrationally worshiped as working class heroes. Soon to be that way in Washington Columbian District with its Nationals baseball team. I will probably be priced out of attending games once the team starts winning. Quote
Big Wheel Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 It's not exactly a surprise that the wealthiest cities in the country charge higher nominal prices for tickets. Much more interesting is to see stats that show the ratio of ticket prices to broader economic measures (the one analysis I've seen on this looked at cost of living and unemployment rate). Those stats show what I've long suspected: Miami sports teams are the ones truly taking advantage of their fan base, even raising ticket prices in the middle of what was a very deep local recession.
