mjzee Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 On the Prestige compilation "Sonny Stitt, Booker Ervin, Don Patterson - Soul People," there's a track, "Flyin' Home," that they say is from an album titled Tune Up! I was looking for a cover scan, but only found the album of the same name on Muse. Does anyone have a cover scan of the Prestige Tune Up? Many thanks in advance. Quote
Larry Kart Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 The cover is copyrighted material; asking for a copy is a violation of forum rule 7. Quote
mjzee Posted September 18, 2011 Author Report Posted September 18, 2011 I was merely asking for someone to link to the cover. If that's a violation, then all the "album cover" threads are too. Quote
Larry Kart Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 You've got a point there. Unless Jim says otherwise, I have no problem then. Quote
marcello Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 I don't believe this is the original but: Tune Up! Quote
Stonewall15 Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 (edited) Send me your email address. I will send you a scan of the Muse Tune Up! cover. Dan Edited September 19, 2011 by Stonewall15 Quote
mjzee Posted September 18, 2011 Author Report Posted September 18, 2011 Thanks to all. Jim Sangrey turned me right - the original was actually a Don Patterson album (hence my failure in finding it doing a search for Stitt). The Stitt "Tune Up" album is actually a date from the '70's, while the Prestige track is from the '60's. I appreciate all the help. Quote
Moko Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 This is my Muse LP version that I bought just before going to see Barry Harris a couple of weeks ago (he's still got it) http://s787.photobucket.com/albums/yy154/MokoMilk/?action=view¤t=IMG-20110918-00451.jpg http://s787.photobucket.com/albums/yy154/MokoMilk/?action=view¤t=IMG-20110918-00452.jpg I hope that helps Quote
king ubu Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 so I guess this is the one in question? very cool cover! Quote
Brad Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 There was also the 32 Jazz Cover of the two fer Endgame Brilliance: Constellation & Tune Up. Quote
mikeweil Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 Prestige LP 7852 actually was a compilation of leftovers from four different Patterson sessions releases after Patterson association with the label had ended. Quote
Dan Gould Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 No wonder with four tenors listed plus a trumpeter. Who was Blue Grant? A nom de session for Grant Green or was there a jazz musician by that name? Quote
Dan Gould Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 I was pretty sure that was the case. Quote
