One trick that many people don't realize is that many credit cards, stores (like Costco), associations, etc. have standing discount codes with the rental car companies and the companies very rarely bother to check to confirm that you are indeed, say, a Costco member who is "supposed" to have the code. I worked behind the desk at Avis for a summer...whenever we had a particularly stubborn customer, we'd give them the biggest discount code (Sam's Club) regardless of whether they were a Sam's Club member. If you are really desperate I'll share another trick that helped me in a pinch. It's a pain in the ass but it's worth a try if nothing else has worked. Quote
