jazzbo Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 That's pretty much how it is reissued. It's all out as far as I can tell, which is good. Now work on those studio albums! Quote
JSngry Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 The "Pep's"... wasn't it originally just one LP and then later on a 2LP set with more? In between, there was this: Full set of images here: http://www.discogs.com/viewimages?release=1250506 Quote

yul Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 Mr Lateef's complete Impulse sessions, live and studio, would also make a very nice Mosaic!!?? Quote
king ubu Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 Yeah, but then too much has been out already and Mosaic never (to my knowledge) was allowed the use of any Impulse material so far. Quote
sidewinder Posted February 4, 2012 Report Posted February 4, 2012 (edited) Yeah, but then too much has been out already and Mosaic never (to my knowledge) was allowed the use of any Impulse material so far. Wasn't the 'Quintessence' session on the Quincy Jones previously issued on CD domestically? A Yusef Lateef Impulse box would be an absolute killer of a set. Top of my list ! Forgot about that one! But I guess Hip-O would object (and send an MP3 in place). Quote
AlexisSchick_16594 Posted February 4, 2012 Report Posted February 4, 2012 (edited) would prefe if they worked more on the reiusses with more and better readable liner notes. Edited February 4, 2012 by alexiss Quote
Stefan Wood Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 I agree that they should release more Yusef Lateef Impulses. 1984 in particular. Also, more Chico Hamiltons!!!!!! Quote

JSngry Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 This, plus the never-released Volume 2: Or maybe not. Yeah, maybe not. Quote
king ubu Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 What the COULD/OUGHT TO do is this: The GRP CD is fine enough, but missing several tracks. Quote
JSngry Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 They should do the label's two blues sides while they're at it: Quote
king ubu Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 The John Lee was around for ages... the second looks more like a politician's wife than a blues singer, but I might be biased... who is she? Quote
JSngry Posted February 7, 2012 Report Posted February 7, 2012 Beverly Jenkins, the wife of Gordon Jenkins, the guy who wrote all those "weepy" string arrangements for Sinatra, Cole, etc. It's one of the more (although not the only) "curious" Impulse! releases. I've never heard it myself, but I feel safe in saying that it's not in any way a "blues" album in the sense that Hooker's is, or probably in the way that anybody's is. Quote
