SEK Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 I use a Pur faucet-mounted filter to get the iron-sulfur taste out of the local water for espresso and cooking. I also drink copious amounts of sparkling water (mostly Canada Dry and the occasional San Pellegrino, but San Pellegrino always seems to taste better at an Italian restaurant (preferably in Chicago ). Jazzmoose Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 When I am making coffee (or especially tea), I care more about the water than when I am just drinking the water straight! Drink water straight? I don't understand... We use bottled. We go through six jugs a week. The tap water here is really hard, and if I ran it through the coffee pot, it would be clogged up with the minerals before long. Besides, I hate the taste. But hey, I'm in California, so it's expected... Quote
catesta Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 Phoenix in general has shitty tap water. I had an RO system in my old place but have not put one in at the new place so I go strictly bottled. I have a bottled water service in the office and buy those 3 gallon containers for the house. Johnny E Posted January 14, 2004 Report Posted January 14, 2004 Philly water is the worse. They call it Schuylkill punch (named after the very polluted Schuylkill River from which the Philadelphia water supply is drawn. It's brown. Since moving to Seattle I drink straight from the tap. When I first moved here I thought the tap water tasted like Perrier. I've cooled to it by now, but it still is just fine to me. Quote
