Desert Island Discs in the iPod Era

Did anyone ever take the phrase literally? I hope not. It's only mean to suggest which 10 or 12 records you would want with you if you knew you would be listening to them for a long time. A good question to sharpen one's thinking and evaluative facility. Whenever discussion turns to the relative merits of a musician, I always like to ask, what desert island disk did he or she create? A good way to narrow the field considerably.

Has anyone yet chosen an iPod as their luxury object? They could fill it with the 544 old episodes available here.

Amazed the BBC has kept so much! Their usual practice is to tape over/delete etc in order to make room for the latest Ant & Dec show.

Sadly, they don't have the Sue Lawley programme with John Lee Hooker. Sue (in best BBC accent): "Now, in 19?? you had a hit with Boo-gee Chill-un..."

Some of his choices would not please the Blues Puritans:

Gosh...you can even search on choices. Vic Reeves chose Henry Cow in 2003!

And here's a study in 'artist' vanity:

Not to be confused with:
