jlhoots Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 For those who haven't pulled the trigger on this set yet, it can currently be preordered (which I did) for about $36.50 via Amazon. Not a bad price. Down to $29.47. They should reduce all preorders to that price. Quote

jlhoots Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 Even better, the lowest price during the preissue period. Quote
Quincy Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 Even better, the lowest price during the preissue period. I think this is a reward for all of us who re-bought the albums for remastering & bonus tracks. Never mind metal spines & trumpet cases. Quote

A Lark Ascending Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 Much as I've sneered at the boutique boxes, I think this is a splendid release. It will be good to hear live versions of some of the tunes from the albums of the time. Looking forward to it. Quote
tranemonk Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 Excellent review... Makes me want to break out my Plugged Nickel Set.... I must say I am looking forward to this set...especially if Amazon keeps dropping the price. :w http://www.nytimes.c...nted=all?src=tp Nate Chinen review ... Quote
Leeway Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 I just signed up. That $29.47 price is irresistible. Plus free shipping. Yes. Quote
JSngry Posted September 9, 2011 Report Posted September 9, 2011 Yeah, trigger pulled. Getting that & adding the new Sonny is about as good a 1-2 punch of a jazz purchase as I've made in a good while. Quote

Sundog Posted September 10, 2011 Report Posted September 10, 2011 Even better, the lowest price during the preissue period. That's my understanding as well. Under $30, nice!!!!! Have the Sonny RS2 on preorder as well. Quote

skeith Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 I have a question or two for you guys who are pre-ordering from Amazon. When you pre-order, does Amazon ever ship prior to the release date? At the other end of the scale, does it ever take too long? What are the advantages to a pre-order? (for the record, I have made many purchses on Amazon, but never have done a pre-order) Quote

(for the record, I have made many purchses on Amazon, but never have done a pre-order) I have pre-ordered from Amazon U.K. a few times and most orders shipped on the day before the release date mentioned on their site. Delivery was pretty fast most of the time (I'm in the Netherlands). Edited September 13, 2011 by J.A.W. Quote
medjuck Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 I usually find the pre-order arrives on the day of the official release. However I just got an e-mail saying that the Duke Ellington DETS vol 15's delivery is being delayed. BTW If you pre-order do you get the lowest price advertised after your order? Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 BTW If you pre-order do you get the lowest price advertised after your order? This happened to me with the recent Coltrane box. I think I got about a $6 reduction. Quote

ejp626 Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 BTW If you pre-order do you get the lowest price advertised after your order? You get the lowest priced advertised between the time you order and the official release. If a week or so after release, it drops another $10, you don't get that back. I ordered with Amazon.co.uk, though it looks like maybe I would have been a bit better off to go with Amazon.com... Quote
