tranemonk Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 I noticed this a while back... Amazon has a got a ridiculous price on 5 OOP Waldron albums as MP3s. http://www.amazon.co...ldron%20Quintet The irony is that most of these songs are over 20 minutes each (since they are from live sets) and Amazon is selling them for $1 each (basically). Since I don't think that Black Saint Soul Note reissue plan may get to these and since Itunes charges more... I've grabbed all of these... I've listened to the Seagulls of Kristiansund and The Git-Go Live at the Vanguard... Both are excellent...Highly recommended. I tend to be pretty lukewarm about digital only stuff but this is great. JSngry Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 The two albums with Sonny Fortune & Ricky Ford are pretty intense. Quote
Clunky Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 Seagulls of Kristiansund was my intro to Mal, Rouse, Woody Shaw and I was blown away , great album love it. Quote
king ubu Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 "Hard Talk" is on Enja and easily available. Same for "Seagulls..." Don't think you can profit of such offers from outside the US, but I'm really hoping CAM comes around to releasing a Waldron box or two as time passes! Quote
Van Basten II Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 I don't see why a Waldron set wouldn't make it eventually. Quote
king ubu Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 I don't see why a Waldron set wouldn't make it eventually. Neither do I. @tranemonk: is there any particular reason for your, uhm, line of reasoning? Any insights that we miss? Quote
BFrank Posted July 12, 2011 Report Posted July 12, 2011 That's crazy cheap! I just picked up The Seagulls Of Kristiansund, The Git Go-live At The Village Vanguard, and Crowd Scene. On the other hand, I feel like I'm "stealing" ... Quote
BFrank Posted July 12, 2011 Report Posted July 12, 2011 FYI, there seem to be a number of Black Saint/Soul Note albums on Amazon selling for multiples of $.89/track if you are looking for some of this stuff cheap. Quote
tranemonk Posted July 12, 2011 Author Report Posted July 12, 2011 No I don't have any insight... I just don't see any patterns what they are releasing.. For example.. how did they pick those 5 from all of David Murray's BS/SN recordings??? I don't see why a Waldron set wouldn't make it eventually. Neither do I. @tranemonk: is there any particular reason for your, uhm, line of reasoning? Any insights that we miss? Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted July 12, 2011 Report Posted July 12, 2011 They were the Octets, hence the title of the box. Quote
