MilosP Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 (edited) Hi I'm looking for down tempo jazz. I love "Kind Of Blue", "Lift To The Scaffold"-Miles, but I could not find much beside that (it is my lack of knowing jazz artists). "In A Sentimental Mood"-Zoot Sims is cool too... Female voices + down tempo are most welcome, as well. Well, it has to be down tempo Any recomandations most welcome . Thanks Edited June 24, 2011 by MilosP Quote
GA Russell Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 Verve released a series of compilations ten years ago called Jazz Round Midnight. I think those would fit the bill. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dpopular&field-keywords=Jazz+Round+Midnight&x=14&y=17 Concord/Fantasy released a series of compilations called Plays for Lovers. I like a number of them as well. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_16?url=search-alias%3Dpopular&field-keywords=plays+for+lovers&sprefix=plays+for+lovers Universal released a few called For Lovers, but I can't get them to come up as a set at Amazon. Finally, I like very much Henry Mancini's two Peter Gunn albums (Music and More Music). http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dpopular&field-keywords=Henry+Mancini+Peter+Gunn&x=14&y=18 Quote

Dan Gould Posted June 26, 2011 Report Posted June 26, 2011 Four of the five tracks on the original Blue Hour would surely fit. Don't listen to those who call it "a snooze". Quote
AndrewHill Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 (edited) Grant Green's Idle Moments and Kenny Burrell's Midnight Blue are low-flame classics. edit to add Gerry Mulligan's Night Lights to the list. Edited June 27, 2011 by Holy Ghost Quote
