ValerieB
Lou Rawls? Edited to add back-up guess: Al Jarreau. But I think it's Lou. Damn, i can't think of Johnny's last name! i know he passed away years ago. Nope, nope and nope! I had a hunch someone might say Lou Rawls! Valerie, let us know who the Johnny is you are thinking of! It isn't him either, but now I'm curious. All the hints I can think of would make it obvious, so I'll wait a bit before giving a clue. i thought it was Johnny Nash. GA Russell
LOL! That's my favorite Christmas rock song! The copy I have goes all the way to the end of the recording, which stops abruptly with the ringing of an alarm clock! Anyway, that is correct, Jim! It's Hank Ballard! GA Russell
Correct, Jack and Paul! It's Lavern Baker. That photo has been used on some CDs, so I figured that Jack would have come across it and would recognize it.

I saw him perform at the Kennedy Center in DC very shortly before he died. He was great, the best of the oldies show, which included Little Richard and Cornell Gunter & the Coasters.
