to me, at least, much more entertaining than the surly Dr. House.

I hate House. Yes, Laurie is brilliant and he inhabits the role, but I find nothing compelling or redeeming about the character, and I don't understand why it's so popular. Give me Ben Casey any day (I own the complete run as bootlegs--it's never been officially released on DVD).

There are many very funny bits in the series A Bit of Fry and Laurie.

There are many very funny bits in the series A Bit of Fry and Laurie.

I hated House for the longest time. But when it dawned on me that it was really Sherlock Holmes in disguise, I found that pretty amusing and it helped me get into it. It's not one of my favorite shows, but the last few seasons were entertaining (I especially liked the penultimate season with Amber Tamblyn.)

About 2000 two sets of Peter Gunn episodes were released, each of 16 episodes. Both have been out of print for years.

Now a box of the complete series will be released Oct. 23. The current pre-order price is $89.99.
