BFrank Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 Anyone seeing that Tolliver show. Give us a review! It's gonna be awesome. Quote
randissimo Posted March 13, 2003 Report Posted March 13, 2003 Anyone seeing that Tolliver show. Give us a review! It's gonna be awesome. You are talking about Charles Tolliver?.. One of the great trumpet innovators of all times, emotionally moving and hard swinging Jazz at it's finest!. I've got some of his sides going back to the 70's when I first heard him on the Stratus label "Music Inc"... what ever happened to Jimmy Hopps? He is BAD ASS! Quote
BFrank Posted March 14, 2003 Report Posted March 14, 2003 Yeah, randissimo, that's the same one. He's doing a show on the 27th with Stanley Cowell, Cecil McBee and Billy Drummond. It should KILL. It's billed as "Charles Tolliver and Music, Inc", BTW. Quote
.:.impossible Posted March 14, 2003 Author Report Posted March 14, 2003 Here's another killer website that lists great music in the Boston area: Twisted Village Tonight we are going to see Central Artery Project (Chris Allen, trombone; Charlie Kohlhase, saxophones; Curt Newton, drums; Dave Choi, bass) / Nate McBride Quartet (Taylor Ho Bynum, cornet; Charlie Kohlhase, saxophones; Curt Newton, drums; Nate McBride, bass.) mim series presentation: Artists-At-Large Gallery. If you are there tonight, just use the adjective "impossible" in conversation during set breaks. I will be listening for it. Quote
.:.impossible Posted March 17, 2003 Author Report Posted March 17, 2003 Well, we never found the damn place. Turns out there are at least 3 Everett Streets in Boston. Mapquest gave us directions to the wrong Everett St. We ended up driving around for an hour, calling some friends and going out for beers instead. How's that for a review? Oh well. Looking forward to the next one. Quote
Big Wheel Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 That sucks. Driving in Boston can be a nightmare! If anyone is up for the Vandermark 5 gig on Wednesday, I'd be up for going--I'll have just finished the most insane batch of midterms ever and will need to blow off some steam. Quote
.:.impossible Posted March 18, 2003 Author Report Posted March 18, 2003 Yeah, kind of funny though. We're creeping down a poorly lit street, counting the street addresses, stop, back up. 37 Everett Street. Looks pretty quiet. There's a dog in the backyard. This isn't the art gallery I had imagined. That V5 show sounds like fun. I don't know if I'll make it up there for it though. Next time, I take the train. And a map. Glad to hear you survived your midterms Bigwheel! Quote
