dreamcatcher_43 Posted May 25, 2011 Report Posted May 25, 2011 I'm looking forward to yet another Monk title in Concord's OJC Remasters series, done in 24-bit by Joe Tarantino. Pity that CMG killed off the Keepnews Collection reissue series. This one is due out on June 7th. Quote
dreamcatcher_43 Posted May 25, 2011 Author Report Posted May 25, 2011 Something Else!!!! by Ornette Coleman Explorations by the Bill Evans Trio Know What I Mean by Cannonball Adderley and Bill Evans Easy Living by Ella Fitzgerald and Joe Pass In New York by Chet Baker Quote
dreamcatcher_43 Posted May 25, 2011 Author Report Posted May 25, 2011 Glad to help. These new OJC Remasters really do sound better than the regular OJC versions (most of which were flat transfers and sound pretty good to begin with). If you can't afford the DCC gold versions of the Cannonball and Chet titles, for example, I think you can easily live with the sonics of these, and they're an inexpensive upgrade to the regular OJC CDs. jazzbo Posted May 25, 2011 Report Posted May 25, 2011 I've enjoyed those that I have purchased from this series and the Keepnews; I agree that they do sound better, and I may even prefer this sort of "sound" to the DCC "sound". . . . Quote
dreamcatcher_43 Posted May 25, 2011 Author Report Posted May 25, 2011 One other nice thing about the OJC Remasters is that they include a reproduction of the back of the original LP jacket in the CD booklet. This may not matter to some, but I love having that sort of thing. Quote
CJ Shearn Posted May 25, 2011 Report Posted May 25, 2011 If they reissue the Montreux '77 series that will be just kind of............ been acquiring the titles I didn't have. Those sound ok for 1989 transfers but I'm not sure if a 24 bit job can improve them as the balance and mix on some of them is out of wack. Quote
Matt Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 Thanks for posting this. I pre-ordered the Ornette Coleman title as an upgrade to my old CD. Quote
