JSngry Posted May 22, 2011 Report Posted May 22, 2011 Dude! That picture looks like a giant fruitcake with a Fantasy label in the middle. Perfect for the holidays! Quote
mikeweil Posted May 22, 2011 Report Posted May 22, 2011 I have red, blue, and green Fantasy vinyl, but this one tops them all! Does it have this cover? Quote
clifford_thornton Posted May 22, 2011 Report Posted May 22, 2011 (edited) True art records... my girlfriend bought me the book recently, pretty fascinating stuff. Mingering Mike Edited May 22, 2011 by clifford_thornton Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted May 23, 2011 Author Report Posted May 23, 2011 @ mikeweil, yes exactly Quote
sonnymax Posted May 23, 2011 Report Posted May 23, 2011 Cool-lookin' piece of vinyl Chewy. Imagine if you had a turntable with a clear glass platter with a light beneath it. That record reminds me of this one below. I bought when it first came out and still have it to this day. Quote
.:.impossible Posted May 23, 2011 Report Posted May 23, 2011 Really nice sonnymax. I have a translucent red Cal Tjader LP. These are great though. Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted May 26, 2011 Author Report Posted May 26, 2011 you just compaed Cal Tjader Quintet & "Alone Together"? Quote
mikeweil Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 Red vinyl was used most often by Fantasy, e.g.: Quote
mikeweil Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 But: here's another pressing of the same ten-incher made from blue vinyl: Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted May 27, 2011 Author Report Posted May 27, 2011 dude mine is cooler than both of those, mine is like beautiful italian stained glass window! Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted May 27, 2011 Author Report Posted May 27, 2011 is it like beautiful stained glass window? Quote
Big Beat Steve Posted May 27, 2011 Report Posted May 27, 2011 (edited) Having only heard of (and seen) "monochrome" red, blue - and even green - Fantasy vinyls myself, I am beginning to wonder if Chewy's item maybe is some sort of pressing plant glitch (where they threw the colors from different pots together)?? Edited May 27, 2011 by Big Beat Steve Quote
jazzbo Posted May 27, 2011 Report Posted May 27, 2011 I'd rather have a beautiful stained glass window. Quote
Stefan Wood Posted May 27, 2011 Report Posted May 27, 2011 It could be exactly that. Similar to old fountain pens, where "End of Days" pens were those with multi colored plastics, a result of the manufacturer blending the colors all at once to use up the remaining stock for the day. Quote
Jim R Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 I've had 10" and 12" in about every color (but never saw the "stained glass window" type that chewy scored). Here's another one I'd never seen before... (until today, on a blog)... Looks like a hallucination of some kind. Quote
papsrus Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 Something happened at the old plant that day. No one can recall exactly what. But Geno the maintenance guy ran off with the boss's secretary and they ended up in a chapel in Vegas, last anyone heard. Mr. Korbishly from accounting ran home laughing hysterically and naked after lunch. It took two hours to get Ms. Zelinski out from under her desk, everyone taking turns coaxing her and smoking cigarettes. And the Kinsley brothers just kept pouring can after can of colored paint into the old vinyl machine. The next day, no one said a word. Quote

That record reminds me of this one below. I bought when it first came out and still have it to this day. I've got that bad boy out in the garage. I should probably find it and bring it indoors. Quote
mikeweil Posted July 16, 2011 Report Posted July 16, 2011 (edited) Those wild colored discs were hip for a while in the early 70's. German CBS released two samplers of Psychedelia and Jazz Rock, one was this: This was the other one: Edited July 16, 2011 by mikeweil Quote
mjzee Posted July 16, 2011 Report Posted July 16, 2011 I have a Grateful Dead bootleg (on TMQ) that has multicolored vinyl. Quote
