bertrand Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 Butch's CD, which came out in France about a month ago, can now be purchased in the U.S., either through this link: http://concertsonthehill.info/bw/index.html or Amazon marketplace. A beautiful record, Butch's first as a leader at the tender age of 71. Disclaimer: I have no financial interest in this. Someone kindly offered to help Butch with this. Bertrand. Quote
king ubu Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 Got my copy on its way! There are some nice videos of this band (from concerts given in France in May 2010) up on youtube: Barack Obama Blue Bossa The Theme (all from Angers) Cantaloupe Island (from "Duc des Lombards", a club in Paris) Quote
bertrand Posted May 8, 2011 Author Report Posted May 8, 2011 There are also some great clips of Butch with Freddie Redd from the Jazz Loft tribute at Twins on 4/20/11 and from their gig at Bohemian Caverns on 2/11/11. Enjoy the CD - Butch's playing is very strong on this recording. Bertrand. Quote
king ubu Posted May 8, 2011 Report Posted May 8, 2011 I'm giving it its first spin... the postman threw it into the (still sealed, we had a wrong key!) new mailbox somewhen in the last few days... found it there this evening. Warren comes through very well on the recording, the band is fine (Christophe is the only one somewhat familiar to me - he's excellent). Quote

Maybe it is King YouTube too :-). I had not found the Angers ones yet, but those shows were a few days before recording the CD. All these definitely had them in very cohesive form for the disc. Quote
Justin V Posted May 13, 2011 Report Posted May 13, 2011 I was just enjoying Butch's playing on Donald Byrd's Free Form. I plan on ordering his new disc later this month. It's so exciting to see him back on the scene. Quote
