Rooster_Ties
I'm sure these will not disappoint... Stunning film clips of the Sunset Strip in the mid-60’s

sidewinder
Great stuff. Nice to see the Bullwinkle statue in situ outside the Jay Ward Studio (suprisingly small). Isn't that 'Hamburger Hamlet' place still in operation? Edited May 7, 2011 by sidewinder
Dave James
I could be wrong, but right at the beginning of the first video, it looked like they panned by the outside of the office they used in the opening montage for the Warner Bros. TV series "77 Sunset Strip." These are really cool. Thanks for sending them along.
Matthew
The fourth clip has the Playboy Club. Here's how it looks today. PS: A lot of the buildings are still there also, I recognized a lot of them, most of them are about a mile or so west of Amoeba Records. Adam
Isn't that 'Hamburger Hamlet' place still in operation? Yes, with Miles Davis's ex, Frances, as the greeter. Had a fine little conversation with her last time.

When I watch these clips I expect to see a big Tower Records sign appear on the right with a wooden shack drawing the jazz punters in like a black hole and a couple of free car parks to make things easy. Wrong era and now long gone I guess but nevertheless - alas !
