jazzbo Posted May 18, 2011 Author Report Posted May 18, 2011 (edited) I was being soothed from some unhappy frustration by music and was wondering: what would my life be like if I hadn't developed (or probably inherited) the love of music (and the collecting bug, which I'm sure I inherited). The most likely scenario I thought up was I'd probably have a wet bar in my living room and a swollen liver. Edited May 18, 2011 by jazzbo Quote
JSngry Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 I'm thinking that these freakin' spring colds suck, and that the fact that I was given a laptop so I could work from home whenever I wanted to was some kind of Faustian bargain to take advantage of my work ethic and get me to leave a lot of sick time on the table at the end of the year, and now I'm thinking that maybe if I just sneezed a nasty old snootfull of snot all up into the laptop keyboard that I could take that sick time while waiting for a new laptop. Dave James Posted May 19, 2011 Report Posted May 19, 2011 Unnecessary negativity is unattractive and depressing. Wouldn't that make necessary negativity attractive and uplifting? Correct or otherwise, it's what I'm thinking right now. Unnecessary negativity is unattractive and depressing. Wouldn't that make necessary negativity attractive and uplifting? ejp626 Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 I'm thinking that the slate of upcoming Criterion releases have far more than the normal number of retreads or movies generally available elsewhere. Now in some cases, this may be the first R1 release, but I have R2 releases of both Malle's Zazie dans le Metro and S. Ray's The Music Room, so I am very unlikely to purchase those (I might Netflix them eventually). But certainly good for some. There are two DVD that seem pretty "fresh" to me: People on Sunday and Ichikawa's The Makioka Sisters. Reasonably likely to buy the Ichikawa. Once again, I am finding that the Eclipse series is more interesting than the mainline Criterion series. This box looks fascinating: Eclipse Series 28: The Warped World of Koreyoshi Kurahara Quote

jazzbo Posted May 20, 2011 Author Report Posted May 20, 2011 I'm thinking that I'm very fortunate to have picked the Rolf & Joachim Kuhn "Impressions Of New York" cd up from Da Bastids before it ran out of stock. Interesting session. Quote

ejp626 Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 I'm thinking that one man's mead is another man's poison. Listening to Woody Shaw's Solid, deciding whether I should keep it or sell it off with everything else, and I listen to the last track (Woody Woodpecker song) which some reviewers on Amazon praised. I think it is silly and not a worthy end to the CD (so it becomes an easy decision to sell). It reminds me too much of playing The Flinstones theme in jazz band in H.S., and I wasn't a fan of that either... Quote
