peruser44 Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 I am looking for the CD "For Losers" by Archie Shepp, issued in 2005. Thanks. Quote
paul secor Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 Here ya go: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000AU1LNA/ref=sr_1_1_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1303912054&sr=1-1&condition=used But it's not worth that price, even if you've got the bucks to pay for it. At least not imo. Quote
JSngry Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 One of my most favorite Shepp sides, period. But for $50.00? I'd keep looking. Quote
jazzbo Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 I love "A Love Supreme" on this. No I mean "Un Croque Monsieur." (Love those too). An itunes version of this very Japanese mastering used to be available, probably still is. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 (edited) legit mp3's, FWIW, here. Also, here's one from Japan for $21 plus shipping, no idea if it's really in stock, never dealt with this source before. Here's another one for $29, same kind of source. Here's one from the Netherlands, no price, you have to 'make an offer' (and the 'make an offer' link is under the album cover, not the blue one to the right of it). clifford_thornton Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 I paid maybe $10 for my vinyl of it. I like this record but wouldn't dump a lot of change on it. Quote
felser Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 I paid maybe $10 for my vinyl of it. I like this record but wouldn't dump a lot of change on it. I like the "For Losers" side, feel like the other side was outtakes scraped together, and poor ones at that. They had the sometimes far superior "Kwanza" outtakes available. Quote
peruser44 Posted April 28, 2011 Author Report Posted April 28, 2011 Thanks everyone for your input. Rooster Ties: Thanks for the 2 links. I dealt with CD Japan before; I placed an order but waited for a long time and eventually it told me it can't get the CD even though it's still listed on the website. The Dutch seller Dorinde Media has a used copy (no OBI strip) but is listed $183.00 (!) on Mustic Stack. If anyone has a copy of the CD which you'd like to sell, please let me know! Thanks. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 Here's one that's $593.11, but I don't think that includes shipping. On a more serious note, sorry this isn't coming up anywhere. Several LP's of it on eBay currently, but no CD's, and none sold in the last 30 days either. You might set up an automatic daily search on eBay, and you can also set up an "auto purchase" transation on half.com (you set the maximum you'll pay, and the lowest quality rating you'll accept). Just don't forget about it if you find it else where -- or else in 6 months you might discover you have two of them! Best of luck! Quote

Thanks a lot for your suggestions though, I'll look into them. Kind regards. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 (edited) One last lead. There was a "Hiroshi Tanno" thread here that mentioned this Shepp title (1800 = 1800 yen)... October 12, 2005 Universal UCCI 3008(New) Sanders,Pharoah/Village of the Pharoahs 1800 Universal UCCI 3009(New) Shepp,Archie/The Cry of My People 1800 Universal UCCI 3010(New) White,Michael/Pneuma 1800 Universal UCCI 3011(New) Sanders,Pharoah/Jewels of Thought 1800 Universal UCCI 3012(New) Shepp,Archie/For Losers 1800 And from another thread, here's Hiroshi's contact info... One possibility would be to contact Hiroshi Tanno <hiroshi@earlyrecords.com> - he has a Jazz shop in Japan (vinyl & CD's) & can search for you - more likely to find an OOP CD in the country of origin I've checked his current CD catalogue (http://www.earlyrecords.com/) & this CD is not there. And many folks around here have purchased MANY titles from Hiroshi over the years, I think this is the most currently thread. Well worth dropping him an e-mail. Alas, I have already contacted him and got an email from him yesterday saying that he doesn't have that CD. Thanks for the effort though, I really appreciate it. Quote
