felser Posted November 29, 2022 Report Posted November 29, 2022 The five I got from Unlqlo have held up really well also. Andrew Hill Judgement is my favorite, Eric Dolphy Out to Lunch is second. The other three were Freddie Hubbard Hub-Tones, and two Lee Morgan's, Cornbread and The Rumproller. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted November 29, 2022 Report Posted November 29, 2022 Yeah, that Judgement shirt from Uniqlo is just about the best ever. All my Uniqlo shirts have held up really well, but so have the non-licensed ones I got from the UK — and the one I got off eBay too, come to think. (All the ones I reported on upthread — none of them have shown any signs of wear, or the transfer not adhering perfectly well). Very happy with all that I’ve purchased. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted November 30, 2022 Report Posted November 30, 2022 Got an email last night that the Australian outfit had just shipped my order — so to their credit, they got my five shirts out the door in less than 24 hours (and I’m sure they’re printing these things to order). Quote
JSngry Posted November 30, 2022 Report Posted November 30, 2022 Anybody gotten BN phone covers yet? Quote

Dave Garrett Posted December 5, 2022 Report Posted December 5, 2022 I meant to post about this before, and forgot until this thread got bumped again. I wound up getting three of the Uniqlo shirts - Judgment, Out to Lunch, and Cornbread - and was really happy with both the great deal price and the high quality of the shirts. Anyway, a month or two ago my wife and I headed out for our weekly trip to the grocery store, which we usually do on Thursday or Friday night (less crowded, and less hassle in general). I happened to be wearing the Out to Lunch shirt. As we were making our way through the store, we crossed paths with a guy who I soon realized was looking at my shirt. He stopped and said he was surprised to see someone wearing a Dolphy shirt, as they weren't exactly common. I told him about the Uniqlo sale but I think they had already sold out of almost all of the shirts by then. As we parted, he mentioned that he'd recently been listening to "Springtime" from the Last Recordings album, and that it was probably his favorite Dolphy. A couple of weeks later, we were at the store again, and when we were walking in I saw the same guy. He smiled, waved, and yelled "Springtime!" Haven't seen him there again since then. Quote
JSngry Posted January 1, 2023 Report Posted January 1, 2023 On Friday, I wore Cornbread to the Assessor's office to pay my property taxes. It made me feel defiantly responsible. Quote
Dan Gould Posted May 16, 2024 Report Posted May 16, 2024 So to update my experience, the BN cover shirts from the etsy store are on their last legs ... the Bobby Timmons is losing the lettering, the Mobley All-Stars is generally degraded and the Lou Donaldson Swing & Soul has that bad looking collar they used for the TV spot a couple of years ago. (It's unfortunate because along the lines of the story above about the Dolphy cover T, I was wearing the LD shirt and waiting for a Chinese takeout order, and an older dude asked about him. I didn't know you could be in your late 60s, a long-time jazz fan and not know the name Lou Donaldson, but there it is. I gave him a quick rundown of the different eras of LD from bebop to organ/soul jazz and beyond.) I should also note that a while back these shirts went into heavy rotation, pretty much each being worn every week during remote workdays and washed every week. Quote
