JSngry Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 That's Chick Corea w/o his glasses, right? Quote
Larry Kart Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 I think he looks a bit like Catherine Deneuve, who did memorably play his mother in Arnaud Desplechin's "A Christmas Tale." Quote
JSngry Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 That's Chick Corea w/o his glasses, right? you're getting warmer - Chick Corea wearing contacts? Quote
jlhoots Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 Looks like a young Roman Polanski to me. Quote
JSngry Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 Chick Corea wearing a young Roman Polanski? The other way around? Where does Don Schlitten enter into this anyway? There's a distinct lack of exclamation points!!! Quote
JSngry Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Don Schlitten is Chick Corea's brother? I've long suspected as much. Quote
AllenLowe Posted April 20, 2011 Author Report Posted April 20, 2011 anybody out there? Now, I haven't laid eyes on Don since about 1976 - but that's what he looked like then - these guys could be twins (Don and Amalric, I mean). it's driving me nuts because it's so clear, but I searched all over the internet and there's only that one stupid pic of Schlitten - must be another somewhere - anybody out there have one? Quasimado Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Jesus, you asked for this Allen, and JSngry's on a roll ... Q Quote
JSngry Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Ok, here is Don Schlitten: And here is his brother, Chick Corea: Mystery solved! Quote
AllenLowe Posted April 20, 2011 Author Report Posted April 20, 2011 not sure it's so much a roll as it is a downhill spiral.... Quote
JSngry Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Chick still does some good work, so "downhill spiral" might be a bit rash, but yeah, he'd definitely done better if Don Schlitten had been producing him all these years, I do believe, if for no reason than that there would be more exclamation marks. Then again, Schlitten's put all his money in the Mathuey Amalric basket, and who can blame him? Producing movies is a much more sure investment than is producing jazz records, especially when it's your brother. Quote
JSngry Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Exactly. W/O Schlitten's massive financial backing of his films, where would Amalric be today? I doubt he's have all those endorsement deals, that's for sure. OTOH, you gotta wonder about a guy who won't invest a dime in his own brother's recordings. Then again, family matters get complicated. Or maybe it's the other way around, maybe Chick ain't down with La Cinéma Francais & don't want his brother's stinkin' money, thank you beaucoup! Stuff happens, ya' know. Quote
AllenLowe Posted April 21, 2011 Author Report Posted April 21, 2011 (edited) my wife just came over (and she generally thinks I'm crazy so she's pretty objective here) and I showed her both pics - and she said: "They look exactly alike." Edited April 21, 2011 by AllenLowe Quote
JSngry Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 And they do! Chick & Don side by side photo taken by Chick's French nephew Matt Almanac Quote
