bertrand Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Thanks to Daedalus books, I now have cheap copies of the Patterson/Ervin Legends Of Acid Jazz as well as the one called Just Friends. If I trust jazzdisco.org, I am missing 'People' from 5/12/64, and a 8/25/64 session with Sonny Stitt called Soul People. Is that everything Patterson and Ervin did together? Is the 8/25/64 session (plus 'People') available on another Legends Of Acid Jazz CD? Thanks, Bertrand. Quote
mjzee Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Soul People is available here; it doesn't include "People": Quote

bertrand Posted June 8, 2012 Author Report Posted June 8, 2012 Thanks to everyone! I wil probably have 'Soul People' pretty soon. Now another question: is Grant Green on all of the tracks on the 'Brothers 4' CD, or just on 'Tune Up'? Thanks, Bertrand. Quote
mikeweil Posted June 8, 2012 Report Posted June 8, 2012 Grant Green plays on the whole session, i.e. the complete Brothers 4 and Donnybrook LPs, and Tune UP from the compilation LP issued after he left Prestige. Â Just take a look at my discography .... The complete session is on Prestige PRCD-24261-2 Sonny Stitt / Don Patterson - Brothers-4, btw. Quote
bertrand Posted June 8, 2012 Author Report Posted June 8, 2012 Duh, I was rushing out and did not see your discography Sounds like I need this one for my Grant Green collection. Funny I never noticed it before... Bertrand. Quote
robertoart Posted June 10, 2012 Report Posted June 10, 2012 Duh, I was rushing out and did not see your discography Sounds like I need this one for my Grant Green collection. Funny I never noticed it before... Bertrand. It's essential. Pairs up very nicely with Grant's session with Rusty Bryant 'Rusty Returns'. Was also just listening to Houston Person's 'The Real Thing' yesterday. The tunes with Jack McDuff on organ from that live session are also noteworthy. Angel Eyes, Since I Fell For You and Lester Leaps In. Wonder if there are any more standard like performances from this 1973 gig still unreleased? Quote
bertrand Posted June 12, 2012 Author Report Posted June 12, 2012 On its way from Amazon. And of course I bought some other shit while I was at it. It's a compulsion. Bertrand. Quote
