Victor Christensen Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 I have been trying to plug a few holes in my BW selection, namely Frensh Ballads Paris Moods Modern Nostagia I have found them on the Net, but they are SO expensive (out of my reach, moneywise), wonder why, can anybody tell me the reason why they cost so much. Maybe Brownie knows ?. Vic Quote
Stefan Wood Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 (edited) Barney Wilen lps, like Sonny Clark, command obscenely high prices on ebay. There is a high demand for them overseas -- why these artists in particular -- who knows? Edited April 14, 2011 by Stefan Wood Quote
brownie Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 There is a mystique around Barney Wilen (the same goes for musicians like Sonny Clark, Tony Fruscella among several others). All excellent musicians. Wilen also moved fast and was playing with the likes of Miles Davis, Bud Powell by the time he was 20. Most of his music has been scarcely reissued which make his albums fetch high prices! Vic, I may have some of the CDs you are looking for. Will PM you when I have time to make a thorough search! king ubu Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 brownie, you don't happen to have the Franco Cerri and Zodiac for me? Quote
brownie Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 Zodiac? I will soon place my copy in a safe! Never heard the Franco Cerri I recently loaned my copy of the RCA Barney at Club Saint-Germain LP (the cover only) to someone who is planning to reissue a vinyl replica from the original tapes. Not sure this will ever materialize! Quote
