mikeweil Posted May 23, 2011 Author Report Posted May 23, 2011 (edited) The situation has changed - since last Friday we have a bass player. The guy is half our age, studies classical bass besides teaching guitar and bass, grew up on fusion and is a slap bass expert but can read well, came to the audition prepared and played solos when asked, even though those tunes were knew to him and sometimes quite sophisticated - we'll try him. One advantage is that he can handle those thousands of jazz standards but has no set patterns about them in his mind like those players who have been doing them for decades. We hit a fine groove on Brazilian rhythms right away - the future looks bright, fellas! Thanks for your input! Edited May 24, 2011 by mikeweil Quote

danasgoodstuff Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 (edited) Little Walter often recorded and worked gigs with two guitars, drums and 'Mississippi saxophone", reputedly 'cause he was too cheap to hire another guy... sounds like your new bass player knew what to do, congrats.
