paul secor
97 years old. He lived a long life. RIP Mr. Perkins. That's a long life - and one that probably wasn't easy.
Dan Gould
And yet professionally it only got better in the last 20 years or so. He started recording as a leader, won a Grammy and I am sure he travelled quite a bit too. Good things come to those who wait And I’ve waited a long time I’m a blues man but a good man, understand
Hot Ptah
I saw him live outdoors at the Kansas City Blues and Jazz Festival, within a year or two of the year 2000. He was very compelling and enjoyable. I also liked his dark green formal men's hat. A real "pine top". I thought that showed a nice sense of humor. John L
RIP, Pinetop Perkins, virtually the last of his generation of golden age Chicago bluesmen.
paul secor
Honeyboy Edwards is probably the last of that generation of bluesmen. BB's there too, but he's a youngster compared to Pinetop and Honeyboy.
clifford_thornton
Here's something I did for the Austinist. Too many obits these days; thankfully I rarely write them myself.
