thx--are there any films of mingus recording sessions? if money jungle and blue moods are examples, they must have seemed like combat zones, and the music is the richer for it.

I was surprised by how much I liked Blue Moods, considering its bad rep. Teddy Charles is one reason it's interesting; another is the song selection. The date feels like a foreshadowing of Cannonball's Something Else - where Miles is a huge ingredient, but not the only ingredient.

Without Elvin, I think the thing might not be more than a near-miss curiosity. But with Elvin, it's a VERY SPECIAL curiosity.
