Jazztropic Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 Saw this on amazon and was not sure what session it is from.If any one has it is this a compilation or a live set? Thanks Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 How about a link so we don't have to search? Quote
king ubu Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 It's a compilation of Pres' clarinet tracks and was mentioned favourably in the Pres thread. Haven't gotten it yet, myself. Quote
J.A.W. Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 This looks like a European public domain series. For those who read French: description I don't think these are legit in the United States. Please do not post links to unauthorized releases. Quote
mikelz777 Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 (edited) Check this link, I don't think the poster is referring to the clarinet collection. Lester Young Cabu Collection Edited March 13, 2011 by mikelz777 Quote
brownie Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 (edited) I mentioned the Cabu Lester Young clarinet set on the Lester Young Corner thread (#187) when it was released last year. Excellent - and perfectly legitimate to us Europeans - double CD! Edited March 13, 2011 by brownie Quote
king ubu Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Check this link, I don't think the poster is referring to the clarinet collection. Lester Young Cabu Collection Something quite wrong with that entry on amazon! The cover fits the "boxed" reissues of Masters of Jazz (mostly I think they just threw in three discs, but I haven't got any of them or even had a closer look at any, but some of them turned up in stores here last year). You can see the "Masters of Jazz / Média 7" logo on the bottom left. The tracklist with 12 titles has to be wrong for a 2CD set. The ones I've seen look like this though: http://www.amazon.fr/Masters-Jazz-Lester-Young/dp/B002TMLRCW/ref=sr_1_3?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1300062438&sr=1-3 Quote

The other one (an earlier item): was a 2CD reissue, also from the Masters of Jazz series. Quote
king ubu Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Did you ever compare tracklists? Does either of them have complete Masters of Jazz discs included, or are they compilations? Quote
brownie Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Just checked on their tracks lists when they came out. Can't remember any of the reissues adding anything really new to the original Masters of Jazz releases. They're all compilations from material included in the single CDs. The only one I purchased was the Cabu Prez clarinet double CD. Thought it was a neat idea. Love it! Quote
Victor Christensen Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 I have just ordered The Cabu "LY Clarinet" from Amazon.UK for 19£, looking forward to get, always loved Lesters Clarinet Playing. Vic Quote
king ubu Posted March 15, 2011 Report Posted March 15, 2011 Yes, I got to grab that clarinet compilation, too - seems like a splendid idea! Quote
brownie Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 Cabu is among the victims of the terrorists attack on the weekly Charlie Hebdo in Paris today. Quote
Clunky Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 Cabu is among the victims of the terrorists attack on the weekly Charlie Hebdo in Paris today. It's really beyond words what happened today. Quote
Brad Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 It's just terrible. I will reserve further comment as there is no political section any more. Quote
