paul secor Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 Thanks for posting this, Tony. I have an old Kabell record (I guess all Kabell records are old, when I think about it) in my collection, and I'll grab this new release when it becomes available. Quote

Leeway Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 I recall that there is an interview/article/profile of Wadada Leo Smith in a Jazz Times from 2003. If anyone needs more information on that, I can dig out the issue (too lazy right now ). Quote

7/4 Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 Some info from the article: WLS lives in a small town, Piru, east of L.A. According to mapquest, Piru is North pf LA. Quote
.:.impossible Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 That STN article was in issue 29 | spring 2003. A good interview. The same issue also "strongly recommends" the latest Califone disc, Quicksand/Cradlesnakes, on Thrill Jockey. Definitely recommended from this listener as well! Thanks for the link to the Leo Smith website! Quote
DrJ Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 This is great news...thanks for sharing it! I'm becoming a Wadada Leo Smith nut ever since first exposure to his amazing sound on Braxton's 3 COMPOSITIONS OF NEW JAZZ...most recently have been enjoying the hell out of the much more recent GOLDEN QUARTET. These have been on my radar screen for the past few months. I just pre-ordered! Quote
king ubu Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 Could anyone tell me some more about this music? Might be down my alley! thanks, ubu Quote

Johnny E Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 HELP - What would be the cheapest way for me to order this? Quote
JSngry Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 (edited) To get a time machine, go back, getcher head outta the political forums for a quick minute, catch this thread from the beginning, and pre-order from CD Universe. Too late for THAT! Seriously, if you look at Alan Lankin's page (and if you have to ask what that is...), there's links to preorder all kinds of jazz stuff, ALL kinds, from CD Universe at what is probably going to be your best price short of getting promo copies. Plus, you're helping one of our own out by the clickthrough. Charity begins at home, and all that. Wait a sec - how do I know you're the REAL Johnny E? Edited February 24, 2004 by JSngry Quote
jazzbo Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 Damn! I looked, saw it was still on preorder price and somehow managed to order it! Broke again. Quote

jazzbo Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 No kidding! Whatever you do, don't look at the price for the Brubeck box! Quote
Stefan Wood Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 I took the plunge. The "pre-order" price sticks around for a week or so after the release date. Can't wait! Quote
7/4 Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 No kidding! Whatever you do, don't look at the price for the Brubeck box! I think I can resist the Time box. I like that stuff, but it isn't even on the radar this week. Quote
