I'm all for it.

TBP's concert in Kansas City last year was far and away the best of the year, but only about 350 people showed up in an 1,100-seat hall.

It amazes me how much this band gets ripped by people who haven't bothered to listen.

Well, we all hear with different ears and they clearly do something right as they are very popular.

When I saw them a few years back I had to leave after about 45 minutes as it was all so plodding. Maybe that was the point; but not one that works for me.

I saw them at an outdoor freebie a few years back that wasn't very well attended, so I have to wonder why all the hype if the're really not that popular. I too find them plodding, both literally and metaphorically.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks they are boring. I went to a very long double bill of Jason Moran doing the multimedia Monk thing "In My Mind" and TBP at George Washington U. And while most of the crowd cleared out after Moran's set, the audience who stayed for the Bad Plus were almost exclusively college-aged. I also saw TBP draw a really young crowd at the (free) Rosslyn Jazz Festival. They do have a following, but their appeal eludes me as well.

I saw them last year and thought it was good - better than I expected. The sound in the hall was horrible, however - this being UT's recital hall for classical music (mostly).

Their cover of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" - which I never gave a shit about before - is totally Waldron-ized. Dug it.
