brownie Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 It's a cheapo label (Palace) that released albums which included various tracks compiled from several labels. Nothing rare there. I would not spend more than a couple of € or $ on it! Quote
John L Posted February 11, 2011 Author Report Posted February 11, 2011 I see. So this is not Bird, Diz, Bean, and Jaws blowing together with Pettiford and Norvo. It is interesting that they give Jaws top billing on the cover! Quote
king ubu Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 for typographical reasons? also because this might have come out in a time when he was a bigger selling point than Bird or Diz? Quote

brownie Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 I'ld lose a small fortune But the music on that vinyl is no jam session, except in the mind of the manufacturer. The LP has tracks from various sessions by Cozy Cole (with Coleman Hawkins), Eddie Davis, Slam Stewart (with Red Norvo) and several sides from the notorious 1945 Clyde Hart session on Continental (with Parker, Gillespie and Rubberlegs Williams!). paul secor Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 I bought that one back in 1962 when I was trying to learn about the music. I was attracted by the names. Even then, I was disappointed. Quote
